Candida Mercado

Candida Mercado is a student leader from San Bernardino, California. She is a junior at Arroyo Valley High School and has been with ICUC for half a year. During her time with the organization, she has worked on student recruitment and voter engagement. She is the lead student organizer for Arroyo Valley High School's phonebanking. Candida does this work because she believes that "young people need to be represented, not just the adults." Through her engagement, she is following in the footsteps of many youth before her who have been part of a large movement of young people continuously fighting to have a voice within a society where they are often silenced.
